MORE ABOUT THEA HOPKINS
Though chiefly influenced by folk, country and pop, Thea's songs are also touched by a wide array of American music. Meditative, romantic and philosophic, they rise up with a sophisticated melodic imagination. In 2002, Thea was awarded an ASCAP PLUS Award for emerging songwriters. Her song "Jesus Is on the Wire," from Birds of Mystery, a haunting indictment of hate crimes, has been performed all over the world by famed folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. In his review in the Boston Herald, Brett Milano called "Jesus Is on the Wire," "the most powerful new song in Peter, Paul and Mary's repetoire." Birds of Mystery was named one of the top ten local albums of the year by the Boston Herald.
