MORE ABOUT MINOR X

Minor X, formed in February 2012, is an original rock supergroup from RI comprised of award-winning songwriters and musicians. The members of Minor X are long time veterans of the stage who offer an engaging, high-energy, and memorable musical experience.
Chelsy Lau, lead vocals, won the 2009 “Best Female Vocalist” award from the Providence Phoenix Best Music Awards. Zach Fenner, guitar and vocals, alongside Paul Silvia, percussion and vocals, won the 2010 “Best Funk/Jam Act” for Gravity Works. TJ Morris, bass and vocals, has performed with local bands Heather Rose and The Drama, Holmes, and Stryk Nine. Rob Coyne, drums, is a member of the popular tribute band Opiate, covering music by Tool and A Perfect Circle.
Minor X’s original music is inspired by, but not limited to, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, and System of a Down. Minor X recently recorded two songs, Goodbye Blue Sky and Hush, at Danger Multitrack Recording in Providence, RI, with master engineer Joe Moody. Goodbye Blue Sky is an edgy lament, invoking a character of frantic desperation. Hush is heavy yet dynamic, illustrating the highs and lows of a well kept secret, and the fear of it being publicly exposed. These two songs are available for your listening enjoyment at www.facebook.com/minorxmusic.
Minor X covers a wide variety of music depending on the event and audience demographics. Some of the covers are performed with a fresh spin on a classic song, paying homage to the original but bringing it up to date with a modern rock edge. Songs included in this vein are Jefferson Starship’s “White Rabbit” and The Police’s “Message in a Bottle.”
Minor X draws a loyal crowd, packing venues such as The Met in Pawtucket, RI, and have concentrated their efforts locally, playing regularly at Lou’s Cafe in Manville, RI, The Ocean Mist in Matunuck, RI, and Beatnick’s in Worcester, MA.
Minor X’s most notable performance thus far was on August 25, 2012 at The Providence Firefighter’s Memorial Hall for the 6th Annual Polycystic Kidney Disease Music Festival. Minor X shared the stage that evening with Blue Coupe, featuring Albert and Joe Bouchard of Blue Oyster Cult and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dennis Dunaway of Alice Cooper. The experience was a local unsigned band’s dream come true.
Minor X plans on recording a full album by the end of 2013 as there are many more songs written and ready to publish. The band’s crafty songwriting, professionalism, and entertainment value guarantee it’s success. Upon hearing and seeing Minor X you get the sense of a well rehearsed and polished group, where the individual musicians shine on their own, while sharing a collective musical consciousness.
