MORE ABOUT FOXGLOVE
Taking their name from the alluring yet poisonous flower, Foxglove consists of Chris McCarthy (lead vocals, bass), Derek Krevat (backing vocals, guitar), and Andrew Krevat (drums). Foxglove’s origins began in their high school days when they first meet. They were playing in different bands at the time, but a bond was formed. In 2007, they made the decision to become Foxglove. Starting off as a four piece, they eventually added a fifth member before taking a hiatus in 2009. They reformed in the summer of 2010 as a trio, and this pop-rock band has been that way ever since.
With over a year in the making, their first release is the EP Strawberry Lemonade. The five track effort opens with “Boomerang Kids.” From the opening chord, it is a catchy and infectious song about the ups and down of post-college life. Switching up the tempo is the love song “When I First Saw You.” The song’s energy is like a train in the way that it becomes more powerful as the song moves forward. “Wake Up Smiling” is another love song that differentiates itself from the previous one with its calm and laid-back vibe. Perhaps the most dynamic song is “Twitch,” as it demands attention from the very start. Finally, “Strawberry Lemonade” is a fun and breezy send off. It invokes a carefree time of sitting around a beach fire during summertime twilight.
Hopefully there is a full-length album in the works, because this EP will have you coming back for more. Until that time, there is Strawberry Lemonade to keep us satisfied.
