MORE ABOUT VICTORY AT SEA BAND PAGE

VICTORY AT SEA (Mona Elliott –guitar & lead vocals; Mel Lederman – piano; Dave Norton - drums) has spent the last twelve years playfully sculpting songs from the raw viscera of despair, trauma, and rage. The emotional force of Mona Elliott's haunted vocals and grim lyrics is tempered by moments of simplicity and beauty .VICTORY AT SEA creates music as morose as it is beautiful, as stunning as it is melancholy that collapses in anguish only a heartbeat before erupting into pure sonic fury, all the while radiating natural elegance and fierce integrity.

Having toured with the likes of BRANDON BUTLER (CANYON), SON AMBULANCE, and MATES OF STATE, VICTORY AT SEA is a staple of the tightly knit indie rock scene. Released on March 13th via Gern Blandsten Records, All Your Things Are Gone is the band’s fifth full-length, recorded during a heat wave at Translator Audio in Brooklyn by Andrew Schneider . Pared down to a lean 3-piece from the Memories Fade lineup after violinist Taro Hatanaka’s return to Japan, this album is perhaps the first to approach the unique power of the trio’s live show. While Elliott’s sultry baritone smolders and strains to its breaking point, her guitar undulates alongside Mel Lederman’s sharp and tender piano melodies and above powerfully intricate rhythms courtesy of Dave Norton (the first drummer to grace two consecutive VICTORY AT SEA albums) The effect is a compelling work of art; from the blissfully soft first chords of “No Reason to Stay” to the final agonized screams in “No Such Thing as Hearts,” you just can’t turn away.

Longtime fans will instantly recognize All Your Things Are Gone as the finest chapter in an already plenteous history, if not the most disquieting. Having once again raised the bar on darkly passionate rock music, VICTORY AT SEA is poised to carve another enduring inscription into your soul. Be prepared for an exquisite experience.

In a world of commodified music and emotions, they can almost sound too real.
